I am not sure if it's correct but being from the UK I have heard stories that unless you are 'officially' retired, regardless if you are over 50 (I am 62), ie draw a UK pension, the British Embassy can get sticky on giving you a certified income statement so in my case i may only have the option of lodging 800k.

Yes I understand that. Income wise i'd worry longer term if I could make the requirement each year and from what I see there are so many frequent changes in the rules, for all we know in a few years it could double, it is highly unlikely to go down.

I am eligible for the retirement visa and the difference for me is always having to have 8ook Baht tied up year on year, versus a one of payment of 500k. Also I can come and go as many times as I need and come back in hassle free.

thanks for your input but I am looking at Thai Elite as an alternative to the retirement visa.

thanks that's a great idea. I am coming in on a SETV and will extend after 60 days. During that time I may take your advice and pay them a visit. I won't be living in Bangkok so can I do the renewal at my local office (in Sangklabhuri in my case)?

True but Siem Reap is much nicer than Phnom Penh :) and cheap and easy to spend 5 or 6 days. Just an alternative to consider.

I also have about 7 entry stamps in the last 12 months.

I just got my first tourist visa from PP via an agent in siem reap. 40$ plus 10$ handling/courier fee. Took 12 days instead of 5 due to a run of Cambodian public holidays. Reliable agent I have used many years to renew my Cambodian visa.
