Hi I am 'admitted until' 23 august on a 60 day SETV. How long before this date can I extend for 30 days at my local immigration office (Kanchanaburi)?

Also is it possible to apply on the same day for a non immigrant O based on retirement?

My 'local' office is 3 hours away and the idea is to minimize the number of trips. I realize the retirement approval may take up to 30 days consideration and I will have to go back to collect if approved. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for a 30-day extension at your local immigration office when you have 30 days or less remaining on your current SETV. Since your SETV expires on August 23, you should aim to apply for the extension sometime on or after July 24. Regarding applying for a Non-Immigrant O Visa based on retirement, it is typically recommended to have at least 15 days remaining on your current visa, but requirements may vary by office. It might be possible to submit both applications on the same day, depending on your local office's regulations.

Thanks Todd do you think it would be possible to do both applications on the same visit?

Thanks again Todd - what TMXX form do I need and does it show a current checklist of documents needed?

You should be able to do a 30 day extension on your tourist visa, and apply for the 90 day Non-O on the same visit. I just had a friend on a tourist visa (who didn't have 15 days left on his stamp) apply for a 30 day extension, get it, then immediately apply for a 90 day Non-O visa. He goes back the 27th to get it stamped into his passport.

in bangkok and chiang mai you can apply for a 30 day extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current admitted until stamp. Other immigration offices are 30 days or less.

Applying for a 90 day Non-O at most immigration offices requires at least 15 days left on your admitted until stamp but some need 21 days.

Once you get the Non-O and the 90 day stamp you wait until you have 30 days or less left on that before applying for your yearly extension of stay
