Btw, can you guys guess who own this FB group you are written from? "Thailand Visa Advice | DTV | Retirement & More". The largest visa agent in Thailand own this very group. Their name is in the banner above. They services hundred of thousands of customers. So you are basically in a group in which you despise who owns it. Make it make sense. They provide every single service you can think of.
As said above, I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to provide factual info. Whether or not one choose to believe or not I do not care. If someone spew nonsense, I will correct the misinformation if I see it.
I was proven right by Red further comment. You can't go from Pattaya 1 year to another office the next. You have to exit the country and start over. His friend is lucky they said yes to an extension with only 10k fines.
For those worry of a crackdown on agents... it already happened 7+ years ago due to the Khon Kaen Immigration scandal. It was the volunteer visas that became obsolete. It was replaced by getting Non-B very easily, amongst other things.
Those on it (with or without agent help), were able to stay until their extension end, but had to cancel the visa before leaving Thailand. Then, they were all able to come back the same day if they wanted. Those who didn't cancel before leaving were not been accepted back in.
So even tho everyone knew those visas were done with agent help, without actually volunteering, it didn't affect anything except to have a stain in your passport in which if you border run Cambodia, you pay 1k baht in extra fees. Yeah, that's about it, and ofc, avoiding BKK airport since they want everyone on previous Volunteer or Ed Visa history to use Fast Track.
Reg Wilkinson He didn't use a real agent. An agent work with a specific officer whose job is to give you the visa hassle free. And most of the time you don't even have to leave your house to get it.
Btw, what newbies like Nick are describing already happened like 7 years ago. But there was no audit, there is no such thing. When the volunteer visas got crackdown on due to the Khon Kaen Immigration scandals (which 99.9% know nothing about). People on volunteer visas were able to stay until their extension end, but unable to bounce and come back unless they canceled their volunteer visa before leaving. Some people unaware of that left and try to come back and were denied. But those who cancaled before leaving were able to come back. I remember that era very well. So even there when volunteer visas was crackdown on, people still on it had no issue if they just follow their agent guidance.
Stuart is correct. If you want to DIY 12 months later, you have to leave and redo the initial 90 days Non-O. But others mentioning crackdown risk to get deported are clueless. We've been through this with volunteer visa a while back.
