thank you for clarifying this. Yes, you cannot cancel any Non-Imm inside the country. However this is what Mike Gaudet recommends, to "cancel your Non-O"
. .and to me, one thing remains unclear: How do you "cancel your Non-O visa" while you are still inside the country? By going into overstay? By applying for a conversion? I thought conversions can only be done from tourist or exempt visa towards a Non-O and not vice versa ?
for a 60-days extension of stay based on visiting family, yes you have to prove that you are married and bring your wife along. No financial proofs needed, though
Mike Gaudet . .. very good info, however you haven't mentioned the possibility for those on marriage visa to apply for the 60-days based on visiting family in number 3) . . . instead, only recommend converting the marriage Non-O to a tourist visa . . . .??
would booking a hotel room for a few days - they will register you with their TM30 - solve the problem ??? You could then change to your actual adress later, pay the fine for late registering TM30, but still be good for now?
something is not correct in your remarks. You say "but if you do leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, and you're on an extension of stay based on married, you must get a new extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national" . . .this is wrong. He will have to get a NEW Non-Imm-O visa based on marriage to a Thai . . (before he hasn't gotten the visa, he cannot apply for the extension)
. .a lot of wrong wording. You are not doing a "retirement visa". You are applying for an "Extension of Stay based on being over 50" and you need the money in the bank for this. You are NOT doing a conversion, nor will you receive a new visa
