that is doing a 1-year Extension of Stay based on retirement, from out of an existing Non-Imm-O/A. This has been practise for many years and is nothing new. New is the requirement for Thai Health Insurance for newly issued O/A visa
So if you are unable to get a letter asking for Immigration to grant you the 30 more days emergency extension, the only option is to leave Thailand and fly to a safe place. You may not be able to return to Bulgaria, but You could go to Suvarnabhumi Airport and go on stand-by with some airlines that still fly out to Europe. Like, Turkish Airlines going to Instanbul, or Finair flying Helsinki and transit further in Europe

ok, you will have to visit Immigration and most probably will be granted 30 days extension, if that's what they told you. Means, your permit of stay will get you to May 30. With some luck the borders to Laos will be again open for travel until then, so you can process the Non-B
the Malaysian border has been closed for foreigner since ALREADY IN EFFECT since March 18 - and only allowed "small" border traffic for residents since. as long as flights leave Suvarnabhumi Airport to the U.K. you are advised to do everything to go on stand-by and catch a flight. Only when all options run dry, you have a chance in receiving the "no-fly-help-me-I-am-stuck" letter. . . . . and be told: fligths are still leaving Thailand to the UK up to today
