yes, I agree, but the news are manifestations or symptoms of a deeper problem. It is imperative to know and understand the causes before we can formulate a mitigating course of action. Burying one's head in the sand of a beach is positively not a conducive approach.
the majority of people are very friendly and hospitable. I noticed that four decades ago, and have been here for the last 20 yrs. Been inmensely happy on my decision. The problem are the usual suspects, then the newbies who ain't seen nothin' yet. Heaven can very easily turn into a living hell, and all because of distorted views, and very poor judgement. This place is still a paradise. "Know before you go" becomes a reality here.
this new FB post is making the rounds now, on the news too. "A Canadian man and his Thai wife were stabbed to death by a neighbour who rented a house next door in Muang district of this northeastern province in the small hours on Friday"
Personal anecdotal experiences are hardly a reflection of a larger picture... read the local news, thethaiger, phuket news, pattaya mail, bangkok post, the nation. Last night I read about a 5 mo fetus found in the garbage, a local stabbing to death an expat and Thai wife because the expat had a few friends over... etc. The news are grim.
