and the price of that will be a big put off for the majority of people, you have to be pretty desperate to come to Thailand and also pretty well off to just happily pay nearly 100k just for the quarantine

Ive been here 5 years now had a couple of occasions where I've had 3 or 4 days overstay for various reasons, one time 2 years ago with the storm pabuk I think I was 5 days over, wasn't a big deal had to pay the fine but no major even at the border, literally they take u aside u fill out a from, sign it pay up and be on your way, also with the amnesty ending 26th (as of now) I would think there will be a lot of overstays ,. Few days or a week here and there due to availability of flights etc

2 week overstay not ideal also not the end of the world, what's the worst can happen they kick u out, they doing that anyway even In 5he unlikely event they blacklist u for a year it's unlikely that they will be open up to come back feely amyway for at least 6 month more now so I wouldn't worry to much tbh

same thing with me I have lived here 5 years this my home and I have a business here and work online but my business is a hostel for tourists so obviously atm no business so I've closed, I don't have the money lay around atm to pay crazy visa money or fly to the UK which although IAM from there it is not where I live, lol I want to go to the nearest country ideally if I can't renew my non b in Thailand and it will be a God send if Laos opens up but what other countries are open or openign?

true but having lived here for 5 years and having a family and my life here it's not as straight forward as that, I have money tired up in investments in the UK to provide for my retirement in 2 years that I can't touch till then and have had to close my business here on Koh phangan for now due to the current situation, I have work I do online to get me by which is ok but i only stated that a month ago and haven't got anything saved now as I've gone through the money I had put away here for unexpected circumstances and don't just have the odd 50,000thb lying around to fly back home to the uk or to pay some crazy price for one of these bullshit Visas that are being hawked around. I will open up my hostel if and when toursits are allowed back and I have good contracts with tour tour groups that give me a good income when they do but right now I have no customers. Its quite the pickle really. Some would say go home but my home is here, this is my home. My fil and son are here, we are not married although that is the plan next year most likely but we haven't the time now to do it to be able to get a non O and obviously I was leaving it for when I get to cash my shares in my company back at home in which by that point I can show the funds etc. If I can't renew my non b or get another visa then I plan to go to the nearest country to wait it out till I can come back to my home, it's not like I'm stuck here on holiday

One way around the visa situation is by making a small donation to a charity that benefits disadvantaged locals and some of the wildlife currently neglected due to the lack of funds to keep open certain sanctuaries and there will be a government announcment about soon. crowd funding for sick buffalos is one popular current scheme and there are many reputable visa agents with this knowledge based on soi 6, walking street, lk metro and the surrounding areas of pattaya, if you join one of the Facebook groups, such as black list Pattaya etc you should find some contact details on there, on top of this it is not even really a large dontation that is required as long as it's a minimum of 5000thb. Bobby Howard I've lived here for 5 years now and tbh if it wasn't for my partner and her son id be happy to leave and already would have done, the anti farrang vibe is so true and it's gotten much more noticeable in the past two years or so since the military came and shut down all the hostels in Koh phangan, since then whenevr I leave the island and go to say bkk or what where I'm not known the hostility in general leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, every time I go to Penang to renew by the time I resch hat yai I'm like why the fuck am I coming back here of my own free will 😂😂

Quite the pickle isn't Im so close to retirementmet but yet so far lol last thing I wanna do is take my 300k bwkx when in two years it'll be in the region of 750k 🤷

my plan is to try to go another country close by and wait it out and cone back once the borders open on either a tourist visa or a new non b visa if I decide it's worth while opening my place up again but failing that I will work online as I can do that wherever until I can either get my cash back in January or If I can get by for 2 year then I'll at least double my investment and I'll be able to live comfortably out here forever especially once me and the Mrs are married and we move to the north as we plan to
