Will a temporary drop below 400,000 THB affect my marriage visa extension application in Thailand?

Hey, I will be applying for an extension of stay based one marriage on the 22nd when my 400,000thb will have been in my account for two months

Last night my wife's friend has reactivated my Netflix account after I cancelled it and so my balance went below the 400k by just 180thb

I have obviously put some money into my account to get it back over 400k but it has been 180thb less for about 7 hours

Will this be a problem and does anyone have any experience of this. I suppose it's good that I will he going to immigration at sa keao province and they are always super helpful unlike touristy offices on your samui and Phuket, do you think they will let that slide?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is concerned about their bank balance dropping slightly below the required 400,000 THB due to an unexpected Netflix charge prior to applying for an extension of stay based on marriage. While they quickly rectified the situation by adding more funds, they seek advice on whether this small lapse could jeopardize their application when they visit the Sa Kaew immigration office, known for being more lenient compared to touristy areas. Community members offer various opinions, with some suggesting it's wise to maintain a buffer above the minimum requirement and others emphasizing the importance of bank statements showing consistent compliance with the 400k THB rule.

Deposit more money like 25,000 or 50,000 if you have it maybe immigration don't say something about the small money but you show you have more just saying

Always keep a couple K extra in the "UNTOUCHABLE" account to allow for such occasions - INCLUDING, annual bank charge applications....

or if I'm super lucky one guy on here mentioned that deposit show up before any withdrawal on the same day and if that's how shows when they update my book then I'll be just about over by 20thb

just see what immigration says the best is to have 2 accounts 1 only have the money for immigration

I had 400,240 and 419thb came out from Netflix at 00.15am and I put back in 200thb at 7am this morning so my balance is now 400.020

I'd definitely want a buffer of more than 20 baht

I'd left a buffer of 240thb on Friday normally we leave more than that in the account but we bought a load of baby things last week as got a baby due on September, so I cancalled Netflix on Friday too to switch to Amazon which was fine and done that but then this girl's had gone and reactivated my direct debit on Netflix. Massively unlucky, and the reason there isn't more in there is that I transfer what I get each week over to my other than account and for some reason I got logged out of my internet banking in December I think it was and I can't get back in, ive been down to the branch and everything to try and sort it, so I normally leave a bit more in as a buffer but just had a lot to get last week s it was down to a buffer of 240thb which would have been fine if out mate hadn't got pissed up last night and messed the account up 🤷

because it's not always that, like 17,000 some weeks, it's only going to be 20k tomorrow but for the past month it's been between 14k and 17k

so you think I might be okay?

You may be lucky but I was at Sa Kaeo last week renewing my extension and they checked the bank statement fairly carefully. They seem to have almost completely changed the staff there over the last couple of months. On the bright side you'll be in the right place to get another 60 day Covid extension

we moved up here from Koh phangan in October and the main guy there has been really sweet with us, but then again my wife worked for a visa company on samii the past 6 years so whenever we go she's always armred with everything and everything is always spot on so it's always been pretty smooth and he has been dead forthcoming with help and advice so I'll hope for the best and prepare for the worst now 🤷

@Anthony ********
Yep. They are always friendly and helpful but the new guys seem much more by the book. Not necessarily a bad thing.

@John *********
Were you getting a one year extension of stay based on retirement, or a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national?
John **********
@Benjamin *****
one year based on retirement
John **********
@Benjamin *****
my point was only that they checked the statement carefully.
Wannikea *********
Well the good thing is you've got options, the other thing is Murphy's law is solid as a rock again.
Jack *******
As said prepare for the worse and start again as it needs to be approved by Bangkok so local IO doesn't have much leeway.....Also, you need to leave the 400k in during the 4 weeks of "under consideration" stamp as they can ask to see it again prior to issuing visa.

and yeah sa keao immigration are going to want that extra month I think when it's under consideration, the guy said he can't be sure 💯 if it will be checked but he said best to leave it in there Just, it's no bother really and I took the money from by biz In the UK and will be sending it back soon as I get the visa, I never leave large amounts of cash in my Thai account and always transfer stuff over as and when I need it, I about 60k put into it over the course of a month for living but all my assets and money are back in the UK

I'll have to prepare for it now I suppose as nothing I can do about it, I'm not even suprised this has had the week before to be honest with you it will be just my luck and just when I was finally on top things and things are going smoothly 😂

Only 7 hours. Was the balance below 400k at the end of any working day?

If not the bank should be able to confirm that it was not under during any working day for the last 2 months....

@Ali ****
I was thinking that myself and if so then the balance wont have been below as it came out at just gone midnight and I put it back it just after 7am this morning
Nigel *********
I concur with
@Benjamin *****
. Go ahead with the application see if they notice (it may be getting the letter from the bank confirming that your balance was over
*****
0thb for 2 months that might cause you difficulties). If that doesn't come off then you have 2 other options for 60 day extensions. All is not lost.
Nigel *********
Richard Parker tbh I don't remember what it says.
Benjamin ******
@Richard *******
I believe they require a copy from the bankbook, which shows the daily transactions, so it might show up there.

yeah that's what I'll have to do, no point getting myself too worked up about it now when there is zero I can do about it, maybe I'll get lucky if not I'll just have to keep in for two months again

Listen up people:

1. The OP is using Sa Keao immigration. Your experience at Kanchanburi immigration or wherever (probably) will not apply at Sa Keao

2. The OP is getting a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. There is *NO* "3 months before" requirements for the extension of stay like a one year extension of stay based on retirement.
Wannikea *********
What permission are you currently on?
Wannikea *********
Well, you are going to have to delay the wedding. 555

Hopefully you can get another 60 days before end of July and then season your funds for marriage extension in August or September.

disconnect all payments linked to that acct. Change all passwords. Use a separate acct for payments. You're asking for troubles like this.

we've shared the Netflix account for like 2 year now and she normally just sends me 200thb each month, I cancelled it on Friday as I knew it was due again on the 13th and I wanted to change to Amazon, which I have last night through my other account, but her mates been watching some series and she's wanted to finish it so she's gone on and she thought she had paid with her true move card she said and she has paid it as she sent me the screen shot but it's also reactivated my direct debit which has took me below 400k for a few hours, fucking nightmare really it's been in there bang on 7 weeks 😭

@Wannikea ********
It needs to be seasoned for 2 months
