In 2 weeks I will be set to get my next 1 year extension based on marriage. The question I have is that we have been living in SA keao last 3 years and that is where I have applied for the extension and submitted all the paperwork etc, but we are now on koh samui as we are setting up a business here, would it be possible to be able to get the extension stamp at samui immigration or am I going to have to go all the way back to sa keao immigration?

Obviously if I have to go back up there to get it for a few days then that's what I'll have to do but it would be better if it was possible to do it here in Samui and not have to make a long trip there and back

Thanks ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of obtaining a one-year marriage visa extension in Koh Samui instead of returning to the Sa Kaeo immigration office, where they initially applied. Commenters advise that extensions must be finalized at the same office that issued the initial stamp, suggesting that the user must return to Sa Kaeo to complete the process. Additionally, they recommend checking local immigration requirements and procedures in Koh Samui related to TM30 forms.

n has an "under consideration stamp" issued from the Sa Kaeo immigration office.

They CANNOT get that stamp "closed" <- (get the year extension inked in) at ANY office other than the one that issued it, which is the one in Sa Kaeo.

Now once you do get the year you follow Ellie's advice on how to change your address, file a new TM30 and start your 90 day reporting down there along with getting your extension next year there as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

Make sure you submit TM30 in Samui, then go to the Samui office to be sure TM30 is enough for proper moving into the province, or if you need to submit TM28 or anything else. And get the latest handout of requirements there as well. Samui has their own list if I remember right.

Then you will be ready to apply for your next yearly extension.

you're right they do. Just done my first one here after 3 in Bangkok and they are very pernickety over a number of things such as the orientation of photocopies and how the map is presented and where in the house the photos are taken. They also did the home visit 3 days after my application.

On a positive note, get there 30 mind before opening and you'll be first in the queue!

don't one need to update the residential address too, on other to do the extension in a different office?

I wasn't allowed to do the 90 day report in a different office without an that they said....
