Toby Shaw Thai embassy will not be able to do any thing about it . He need to go back to Thailand ( to where he was born, to be exact) and starting from there. It’s involving getting his mother’s relatives and the head of the community.

have your mother goes back to where she registered your original birth certificate and go from there . It’s really easy steps since you are Thai from birth! If the language is not a problem you can do it yourself

To confirm, it IS the Thai birth certificate?

Thongchai Lioy At the time you were born I assumed that you issued a Thai birth certificate? If so you are Thai and do not need to do anything to get the citizenship. Just got your documents together. I’ve help an American Thai whose circumstances are similar to yours and familiar with the process, feel free to contact me for further information.

On your Thai birth certificate there the 13 digit number, that’s equivalent to the SSN here in the US. With that number you would move very smoothly getting your Thai ID/Thai passport .

Back when I applied, have got mine without any issues. The applicant’s credibility is what the determination of approval or denial. I was in my mid 20’s then, solid family background including financial status. Being so young with two young children and family obligations the staff knows I would not risk not to returned .
