IMHO what is a bit illogical is if she were to arrive in Thailand on an international flight I believe she can't present/use her Thai ID card (assuming she had one) at immigration for them to consider her for entry (ie. they require a passport) yet if she were to enter overland at a border crossing I believe they would accept the Thai ID card. I remember once back when the airlines required you to provide them a valid passport number, expiry date etc. when booking the flight (from overseas to Thailand) my Thai wife used her non-Thai passport and then upon arrival showed immigration her Thai passport and this caused a bit of an issue - immigration told her not to do that again.

If you play vid at .25 and watch closely it appears that the foundational supports gave out initially (around 6.5s in). Bangkok, being built on high water content clay and sediments (2000m down until bedrock!) is at extreme risk for damage (via liquefaction) from earthquakes. My mind is blown as to how much shaking occurred in BKK from an epicentre that was ~1000km away. If I was living in a high rise condo I'd be sh*tting bricks now. Assume the price of these condos will quickly drop (for a while, until everyone forgets) and the price of suburban sprawl houses/townhouses will spike.

Tell him: "Sure, borrow the money for my bike from your friend and then pay them off by installments".

Ok, I just suggested a scooter as the ones in Thailand (eg. step-through 100-150cc autos/semi-autos) really are a great fit for 90% of the use-case riding done there. But, if planning on touring around: we did so for a week in the north 2 up on a Kawasaki KLX250 and it was perfect. More than enough power, long susp. smoothed the rough roads and no issues with rough dirt tracks. May be a bit tall (standover) for you though, depending on your size, though can be lowered a bit to fit. Safe travels!

Re: taking a course on a Harley... some jurisdictions don't require separate MC license/endorsement to operate very small displacement MCs (eg. scooters) so if this applies where you live and there's anywhere nearby that rents scooters (if a tourist area and the law is as I stated then somewhere likely will rent them) then just watch some youtube vids and rent a scooter and practice in quiet areas to start.
