Someone at your guesthouse should have power of attorney to sign TM 30s when the owner is away; otherwise they’d be racking up violations every time someone checks in. Ask again....or go to Bangkok!

okay. I do not have a visa, I am a US citizen on a visa waiver, which has already been extended once. I only have 20 days left on it, so I cannot apply for a visa here, unless I can extend it again.

If I have to do a visa run to get another 30 days, I might as well just go to an embassy and do the whole application there, right? Is it easier to apply from inside Thailand?

Let me narrow the question a little.

Mostly, I want to know if people have had particularly good/bad experiences dealing with any of the nearby Thai Embassies.

I’m not trying to be secretive, but I don’t think the other details are important.

*I entered on a waiver, so this will be a new visa.

*Currently in ChiangMai, but we want to get away from the smoke for a while, so proximity is not a virtue.

Fun... what does it take to be admitted to Myanmar?

Alternatively, is there any chance for getting a second 30 day extension?
Alan *******
No, wait. It turns out that I can’t get the the thing at the consulate until Tuesday

So let’s say, I show up at immigration with 19 or 20 days left on my extension. Will they still allow me to apply for the 90 day? Then, If it’s not acted on within 20 days, do they then cancel the application so I have to start over? Can I get another extension while I am applying?

Maybe it’s better to do a visa run first, and then start the application for the 90 days?
