Hi guys, I need a Certificate of Residence from the Thai Immigration. I just learned that they only do it if you have previously done a 90 day report which I haven’t. And the 90 day report can only be done 1 week before until 1 week after the 90 days date. Does someone know if that’s true?? Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirement of a 90-day report before obtaining a Certificate of Residence from Thai Immigration in Thailand. It confirms that applicants generally need to have completed at least one 90-day report to be eligible for the certificate. This report can be done within a week before or after the 90-day due date. The commenters provide various personal experiences and suggest alternative options for obtaining a residence certificate, such as using embassy services or getting registered at a hotel to apply through a different immigration office.

Several in Pattaya will do it.

I obtained residency certificate in Nangrong from police station 50 baht.

Used same for DLT and drivers license on a TR visa.

Thank you for this. Maybee resident certificate might give me more options for banks . I read that there is no capital gains tax on shares stocks cryptos etc if you are domiciled in Thailand

Chris Bugov Bangkok Bank is the only one that will allow you to open an account with a tourist visa, and even then there may be questions. I got the best service at their office in Central festival mall.

which one is with the cheapest "receiving" fee :-D

A resident certificate is no use issued from say Jomtien Immigration if you wanted to use it in Bangkok. They can only be used in the province they are issued in.

You was extremely lucky it wasn't picked up on.

Wouldn't say that in general. That's also why I asked, what he needs it for. The agent that I used to do the license even recommended me to go to Pattaya and get the paper there - even when I did the test in Bangkok.

Unfortunately that's the truth. I needed it for the driving license. Fortunately I could get a certificate from my embassy.

What do you need it for? Depending on that you could also get it from another immigration just with a hotel address. E.g. in Pattaya, Jomtien, Hua Hin you can book a hotel room, make sure that they register you, get their business card and a confirmation about your stay and head to immigration there. My dad got the certificate in Hua Hin on a tourist visa in 10 minutes after he supplied them with all the documents. He needed it to open a bank account.

that does not surprise me in the least and I honestly don't know why bangkok doesn't issue certificates of residence to anyone who wants one, I mean money is money.

Just to add to Tods post. You have to wait and receive it by post too unless it's recently changed. They was also saying you need to wait up to 4 weeks to receive it.

Always Was the Worst..!

The British Embassy is getting worse anyway. It's now weeks to get an appointment for most things.
Tod *********
yep, they charge 200 baht and mail it to you EMS. Now they're telling people IF you don't get it in 4 weeks to come back :/
Tod *********
Bangkok immigrations will only issue a certificate of residence to people who are on extensions of stays that require 90 day reporting AND you have to at least have done one :/

Your only option would be to get the residence certificate from your consulate, or wait until you do a 90 day report, which you can do 15 days before down until 7 days after your due date.

German Embassy won’t issue these anymore if you need it for anywhere else than Germany... So seems I need to stay longer and do a 90 day nonsense... or just continue driving on international license...😉

I just got a C or R on a visa waiver. This is in Chiang Mai. Passport, lease, TM30, photos.
