Of course it is obvious to anyone with half a brain what happened here. Now, the question is what would the IO do if this person does nothing and then shows up to either extend the visa or they leave the country before the stamp is to expire?

Yeah, it would be nice. You mention banks. We always hear advice, "If one office won't do it, go to another one." Immigration is different office to office. Even from time to time, you show up with everything you brought last time and it's, "Oh, sorry, you need this." บ้า
