My wife's sister is a Myanmar citizen coming to visit in Bangkok. Can she get the 45 day VOA at either Bangkok airport? Can she then extend at Chaengwattana for 30 days? Anyone have recent experience with Myanmar citizens coming for visits? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Myanmar citizen cannot obtain a 45-day Visa on Arrival (VOA) in Thailand. They qualify for a 14-day entry under a bilateral agreement, which is not extendable. Instead of extending their stay, many Myanmar citizens cross the border and re-enter. However, with a recommendation letter from the Myanmar Embassy, they may apply for a 30-day extension after the 14-day period. It’s recommended for her to seek additional information from Myanmar community groups.

After 14 days, with recommendation letter from the Myanmar Embassy , can 30 days extension everytime, those are most myanmar doing extension. She can get more info by asking Myanmar groups.

I'm sorry they didn't have the courage to stand up to the IO and state their case. I wouldn't back down, but I'm different.

I'm not from Myanmar. I was trying to help out the OP with official proof that Myanmar citizens are now entitled to 45 days and have provided the necessary links which shows I am correct.

The reason I am replying to the post is to avoid conflict information and actual stamp. So he or she can arrange the necesaary steps and arrangements.

Not argue without actual facts.

If IOs wrong, why all burmses got 14 days stamp from both airports.

We have large burmese commnunity and we keep monitoring this issue since they change 45 days.

Yes. I just said. IOs often make mistakes at the airport. I once came in on an OA visa and got stamped in for 90 days. I checked the date and pointed out that the stamp should be for a year. The IO acknowledged his mistake, voided the stamp, and stamped a new one for a year. Mistakes happen on both sides.

If they were only stamped in for 14 days, the IO has made a mistake.

That's official. If an IO makes a mistake at the airport, it's up to the tourist to check their stamp and get it corrected.

True but massive amount of burmese flied with 14 days arrival and extended their stay in the way i explained earlier. She or he who can speak burmese can ask Thailand info of Myanmar group ( cant remember the exact name) for info and also agent who can help to get recommendation letter and visa extension services with Approx 3500 baht in the group.

Anyhow good luck with the visa.

Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia, all come under different entry rules. They get 14 day entries, not extendable, but they simply cross the border and return.

there is no more covid extension. A letter from an embassy asking for an extension is not the same as covid extension.

Myanmar citizens do not qualify for visa on arrival. They can enter with bilateral agreement for 14 days. This is not eligible for extension.
