I use Wise to transfer “general living expenses” to my Thai bank every month, and it takes seconds.

I opened my bank account on a 60 day tourist visa only 3 years ago, they didn’t even ask to see my visa, I got a form from the bank, took it to immigration, paid a small fee, brought the document from immigration back to the bank, and my account was opened within days, 3 of my friends done the same thing.I do believe they have tightened up considerably since then.

Probably, until they decide you are using the visa exemption scheme to stay long term, in reality no one knows yet.

Usually the airlines who ask, but on the odd occasion, airport immigration.

correct, it’s usually the airline, although I was asked last year, and the passport control didn’t even look when I went to produce my ticket.
