It was used years ago exit charge,it was a machine which gave you a ticket for boarding at a cost of 500 baht,no ticket no boarding

 insurance as a tourist would cover your treatment and quarantine,if you reside in Thailand then I’d hazard a guess that the authorities will make sure you have adequate cover for immigration purposes
