There have been a few complaints posted.

However, they are vastly outnumbered by the silent customers who have no problems at all.

WISE now has in excess of 15 million customers, roughly growing at 20% a year. It's inevitable that some transfers will have issues.

SWIFT transfers are more difficult to set up and track.

WISE is easy and the tracking is provided automatically with an estimated time to arrive.

If a SWIFT transfer goes astray, you are left dealing with the banks directly. WISE takes care of all that hassle.

You can also thank WISE and similar companies for breaking the banking monopoly and bringing down transaction prices and narrowing exchange rate spreads.

With WISE you can also send directly to various wallets such as in the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia, an extremely useful feature.

I've never had a problem with WISE customer service.

If you are using WISE then they send THB to your account.

There are no recipient charges for this.

You can do the homework yourself using the WISE app, and not rely on random people.

Set up the transfers and you will see the amounts that would be finally paid into your Thai account.

I did it recently.

Converting to THB inside of WISE to a WISE THB account before transferring to a Thai bank came out marginally better after charges than sending GBP.

However, that's based on just a couple of transactions and hardly statistically significant.

I expect that WISE tries to minimalise the arbitrage and there will never be a significant difference.

Let us know the results....

Just did it.

If you want THB 20k in the Thai account, it will currently cost GBP 452.12 via a WISE THB account, and 451.99 directly to a Thai bank.

13 pence cheaper going directly.

Or 0.03%

Wrong.

800k for three months after extension based on bank balance is approved.

Then can withdraw 400k

400k until extension based on income is approved.

Then can withdraw remaining 400k.

Not me, been there, more than a bit boring after the first 30 minutes.

I'm sure it might suit some guys.

It's off topic.

The op was asking about working, this reply shot off on a tangent about how to live more cheaply and promoting the "rural" life.

Wise does not have a "very bad" rate. It is generally considered to be one of the best.

"Almost all banks" and "the Thai government" don't like Wise???

You are just making up drivel.

Yep, you'll get a stamp in your passport and a reason.
