Yeah. I probably should have mentioned that I would prefer a place in Chiang Mai, although I’d be open to other options for learning. Bangkok would not be my first choice, but it’s not out of the question. Given my age, I probably could not handle the intensive. I saw Tod’s comment about people being on educational visas and not really wanting to learn Thai and that has me a bit concerned. I don’t want to be sharing classes with people not serious about learning...feeling a tad bit overwhelmed at the moment. Lol

I’m actually looking more into this option. I’m wondering if you know where I could learn more. I could qualify for a retirement visa, but I don’t want to lock myself into that and I’m very serious about wanting to learn Thai, if I’m going to eventually settle down in Thailand. Do you know where I can find classes that would qualify for the education visa?

He has multiple visas for which he qualifies. He’s asking for help navigating the options, which IS the purpose of this group. If you don’t want to be helpful, perhaps you are lost.

don’t go, if you don’t like the country. It’s really that simple.

Personally, I’m ok with it. On Thanksgiving Day, I helped a homeless man who then told me he had tested positive for COVID. I called medical services for him, but I then could not track down if his story was true or if he was just trying to get shelter for the night, as the medic implied to me (turns out that his story was likely true, but no need for details). Anyway, I was needing to quarantine until I could find out. It was a royal pain. I would have much preferred a method where they could have tracked me down because I had been in touch with him and he tested positive.

I protect certain aspects of my privacy, but I recognize that much of it is already exposed. If the government wants to track where I am for contact tracing and to be able to reach me if I’m exposed to someone with COVID, I’m very ok with it. Google maps is already tracing me. They can even feel free to use it for future marketing plans.

because Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. don’t share data with health agencies.

Also, make sure you don’t have too many other things running at the same time, especially in other tabs that may be taking bandwidth.
