I'm still rockin' my AIS "tourist" SIM purchased from the airport in 2021.

Just get it when you're here. Even get it at the air-port, and just top it up with a regular package of your choice when the initial package runs out.

I use the MySIM app from AIS, and it works like a charm.

No, this is not automatic.

The TDAC is just something extra to use for your screening. You still need to go through the Immigration, and show your passport to the officers there.

I am pretty sure it is specifically stated that applicants need to stay in the country they are applying in, until the process is done.

A lot of people still go, and have no problems.

And a lot of people go, and do have problems.

You are a Tax Resident when you stay longer than 180 days in a calendar year.

If you need actually pay tax depends on a few more variables.

Immigration just haven't done a lot of cracking down on people doing this kind of work without any work permits of Visas.
