My question is. I have already gained a visa until 21st of December. Can I just do a visa run and get 60 more days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about performing a visa run to extend their stay in Thailand, suggesting their current visa is valid until December 21. Comments clarified the type of visa in question, with several users indicating it might be a multi-entry tourist visa instead of a Non-O visa. They provided insights on how the user could re-enter Thailand to obtain an additional 60 days, subject to meeting certain requirements such as cash proof, accommodation booking, and onward travel.

I guess you're asking about a border run, not a visa run.

You seem to be confused as to what visa you have. There is no Non-O with a validity of 180 days.

You likely have a multi entry tourist visa.

Figure that part out first.

With the multi entry tourist visa, you should be able to enter just before it expires in December, and be stamped in for 60 days, which you can extend with another 30 days.

Bringing your stay to around March.

"I applied for a 3 month visa and it appears to be valid from June 25th until December 21st." . . . . Now THIS leaves me completely devastated. . . . . this sounds like you were issued a 6-months multi entry tourist visa. It can't be a 180-days Non-Imm-O visa as there is nothing such. And entering in October would make little sense as you would lose more than half of the visa validity

Ah, okay.

You plan to enter on a 90-days single entry Non-Imm-O visa, and use it for a holiday of 90 days. Then you plan to do a border-bounce, to get stamped in for 60 more days upon re-entry

*** I would say your plan is okay and will work, as long as the Immigration officer at the border likes your past entry-stamp history of the recent 365-days, most of all when he doesnโ€™t find โ€œtoo manyโ€ visa-exempt entries and touristic entries

Regardless of all - be prepared to be asked for the three famous proofs:

*Cash equivalent of 20,000 THB

*a few nights of a booked accommodation

*Proof of onward travel leaving Thailand within these visa-exempt 60 days

Safe trip and a nice holiday!

but something smells wrong here. He said he was issued a six-month visa! There is no Non-Imm-O Visa with a 180-days validity

What kind of visa do you have? I'm not aware of any visa that gives you 80 days

ok so you have a 6 month multi-entry tourist visa which gives you 60 days every time you enter Thailand including the final day of 21-Dec. Each entry can be extended for 30 days if required.

apparently this is the case. A 6-months METV. And the visa validity seems to have started yesterday!? He is going to lose half of the visa validity if he waits to enter until October 3rd ๐Ÿ˜•

that sounds like a multiple entry tourist visa. Every time you enter on that visa while it remains valid you get stamped in for 60 days and can extend for a further 30 days at your local Thai immigration office. So if you leave and return just before 21 December you would be able to stay until sometime in March

You've got a visa? Why not extend it for 30 days. Some countries you get 60 days entry without a visa.

so according to him he applied for a 78-days visa yesterday and it got issued within hours -valid for an entry on 3rd of October - the very last day the visa is good to enter. This turns out to be a complete train wreck, Tod D. would call it . . I think he got a METV issued yesterday. And the visa validity seems to have started yesterday. He is going to lose half of the visa validity if he waits to enter until October 4th ๐Ÿ˜•

a visa run means you go apply for a visa via a Thai embassy. Check if your passport country is ok for visa-exempt ( no visa) entry of 60 days and do a border bounce.

then if you have a valid visa you can extend by 30 days. And if eligible based on passport you can leave and "border bounce" for an entry with no visa. But you didn't say what passport you have.

something doesn't fit here. There is no 78 days visa. And there is no Non-Imm-visa with a validity of 180 days. . . . and he wrote contradicting info: "I applied for a 3 month visa and it appears to be valid from June 25th until December 21st."
