I honestly find it beneficial anyway, as I can exchange my money at more opportune moment than when I am in a pinch at the nearest ATM and hope the exchange rate isn't terrible.

There are some fees with using the service, but I honestly prefer those over going to the ATM on a bad day and getting hit with a terrible exchange rate.

And if you are lucky to have a Thai account or a friend with a Thai account you trust you can send to, it's absolutely brilliant.

Having the appropriate visa is definetely recommended.

Then your landlord might not have filed your TM30 to begin with.

Make sure they do it, and get a reciept.

Your landlord needs to update your TM30.

If you left the country and came back, or stayed at another place who registered a different TM30 than where you normally live, you will need your landlord to file another TM30.

I was stopped at the front booths, and brought back for a talk. The officers looked at my travel history and they literally said "We can not let you in because of xyz. Come back when you have a proper visa". So I was denied entry.

After being told this I was close to having a panic attack and was shaking and very distressed since all my stuff was still in Thailand, and the sweet but stern immigration officer lady took pity in me.

And then we had a productive conversation about why I had been there so long and why I had not gotten a proper visa, and when I was heading home.

The compromise was they would let me in if I could show proof of monthly income to support my stay, and order my ticket back to my country ( flight within the next 60 days ) right then and there, and whenever I decided to come back to Thailand it was with a proper visa, not a visa exemption.

Exemption.

They told me to come back with a Visa next time. No mention of required time away before returning.

I would have rather left and came back with a visa than to give anyone any money.
