no you dont. Nobody plan trips 6 months ahead. And you can extend at immigration aswell so who plans 1 year upfront?

but with a DTV you dont need it because you can stay for 180+180 days with a extention at immigration. And many people travel by ground without booking anything. I came to thailand with no problem like this.

Anonymous participant in my view i dont think they care if you come on metv or exemption if you have border run history already. The wrong IO can send you on the next plane back home and you will have to pay. So really depends on who you meet and what your reasoning for coming is and if you have paperwork for that reasoning
