Which embassy did you apply to ? Where are you located now ?

If you’re on a tourist visa, you may it to be over or cancelled before applying to DTV. But as you’re Canadian, most likely you have wrong information on your post and you’re in Thailand on visa exemption (most likely). Just go to a neighbor country and apply.

You have a chance they ask for additional / updated documents including full passport copy, and if you lie to them they will find out. Smartest decision is to stay in country where you applied waiting for your visa to be ready. That’s how it was before evisa, the fact you hold your passport makes you feel it’s ok, but it’s very gray area to go to Thailand while waiting for their decision.

No need, but if your passport is under a year of validity, I would best renew it and apply on the new one.

Someone just reported having to go for interview at application embassy. You’re supposed to stay in the country where you applied, which can be considered as full time including application / processing / obtaining the visa. It’s a gray zone I guess so be ready for surprises and don’t lie them about your situation if they find out

some are asking nonsense stuff like proof of accommodation for 6 months ! But no one forces you to stay in Thailand for 6 months, and even less at the same place 😆😆 I’m happy I requested in the first days in Paris, took a month but not any question asked just received the pdf directly 😆😆

If i were you i would apply for dtv asap, will avoid any surprise if they make conditions harder, you can use it for the next 5 years then ;)
