ORIGINAL POSTER
Currently in Thailand on a Tourist visa.

I run a full blown website and meet all the financial requirements... Also made a portfolio presentation to be given to the visa processing consolute..

I am from Canada and dont want to fly back home but would like to fly somewhere and apply for it at a Thai consolute in a neighboring country. I tried going to the Osaka one... but once I got there... they said I had to be a permanent resident.

Where can I go to get this accomplished? Without flying back to Canada.

Also.. im open to the idea of hiring somebody to do the application if need be..

Thank you for your time and consideration.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian currently in Thailand on a tourist visa is seeking advice on where to apply for a Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) without returning to Canada. Several community members suggest going to nearby countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, or Taiwan, as these locations have accessible Thai consulates. They recommend ensuring that the applicant is legally present in the chosen country and to be aware of processing times. Suggestions also include using the eVisa application process where available.

I recommend Vietnam

Fellow Canadian here and was approved in Taipei, Taiwan in Nov.

I just got mine yesterday in Taipei! Very straight forward. Initially I planned to go here next month, but then I learned that they will change to evisa.

I assume though that the same people will work on the online applications and I would simply chance it to walk in with all the documents and try to hand it in. They all seem very helpful if you approach them politely.

Manila, Philippines. That’s where we went in November. You do not need to be a resident and it is in-person (not e-visa)

I've read Taiwan was one of the easiest and they don't charge the $400 until you're approved.

@Aaron ******
that was for walk-in applications... they are moving to e-visa, so tomorrow (Dec 27) is the last day of in-person submission. Once on e-visa, the fee is to be paid when applying.

Go to virtually any nearby consulate. Read the posts here to get an understanding of how lenient or strict they are for your chosen DTV scheme before choosing one. Do not leave that country until your visa is approved, the embassy website will give you an idea of processing times.

If you’re on a tourist visa, you may it to be over or cancelled before applying to DTV. But as you’re Canadian, most likely you have wrong information on your post and you’re in Thailand on visa exemption (most likely). Just go to a neighbor country and apply.

throw a dart; you can go to any one of these neighboring countries and use the eVisa online website to apply for the DTV; Malaysia (3 consulates), Indonesia, Vietnam (2 consulates) , Burma, Lao (2 consulates), Cambodia,

All you have to do at ANY of those countries is show you're legally IN that country when you apply (upload your visa/entry stamp) and use the hotel address where you're staying there as the "home address"
