I did that with a DTV.

Got an email advising me that I had 4 years left on my DTV. They asked me if I wanted to cancel the DTV and proceed with the non-O or cancel my request for a non-O.

I told them to cancel the DTV and proceed with the non-O. Next day I got an email saying my DTV was cancelled. Downloading the PDF from the website has a big "VOID" across the DTV.

A couple days later they emailed my my non-O.

Jomtien Immigration refused to accept 65K/month deposits since the Canadian Embassy issued income letters at the time.

that will work if the embassy stops issuing the letter. Immigration will not accept the 65K monthly transfers into the bank if the embassy issues the letter, they will want the letter. This strategy would only work pre-emptively.

You didn't indicate what country you're applying from. Embassies in different countries have different rules and requirements. If thay want proof of funds in local currency for a specific amount, then that's your answer. Look for exactly what they want.

you'd be amazed at the number of expats I talk to that have no idea what they have, completely oblivious.

And you can only do it if your embasy doesn't issue the income letter. If your embassy issues the income letter you must use that. Immigration will not accept
*****
baht deposits in this case.

Great info. I entered as remote worker, so the same documents I used to apply seem to be what they're asking to see, should be easy enough.

I was in Jomtien Immigration about 2018. These tourists didn't have a TM30 and were in line to get one. The Immigration Officer had them get their landlord on the phone. It was a long conversation in Thai. After the phone call the Immigration Officer said it was the landlord's responsibility to file it and pay the fine. The tourists were given the option to pay it if they wanted. I don't know what happened after that.

@Lloyd *******
this is the distinction I was looking for clarity on.
