that depends on the embassy you apply. I did mine in Jakarta, and was based on a single appointment. Initial consultation with neurosurgeon in my case

Well its 800k in a THAI bank account (and need to sit in the account for a couple months in advance before you apply ) , or 65K a month coming from a foreign bank account to a thai banking account (If your embassy in Thailand issue income verification, not all do)

However if I were you I’d look into DTV visa based on medical treatment. Its allot less hassle. Just getting a Thai Bank account alone is not easy….

at least for medical it was very friendly. All they cared about was sufficient bank balance and a single medical appointment.

I will make sure I actually have a appointment when I arrived. Although the visa itself just say DTV, pretty sure immigration can see it was based on medical

Enjoy Jakarta, underrated city to explore. And great food scene

i did it a couple weeks ago. All I had was a initial consultation with neurosurgeon at a well known hospital in Bangkok.

I applied Monday morning, picked up my passport with approved visa on Thursday afternoon. Price was 5,600,000 IDR (cash only)

I tried for remote working in NL before i came to Jakarta. That was annoyingly difficult, didn’t have time for that bull…My contract states remote work, and despite me being a global manager, they kept asking for “official letter confirming remote work. I even did a self declaration that wasn’t accepted.

Jakarta was very straight forward, for me 3 business days. Provided

- Passport

- 6 weeks old first page of bank statement

- medical appointment printout

- Local application form

- 2 passport photos

METV is a tourist visa. Why would you think that would be difficult as retired?

Though with the new 60 day visa exemption you could simply extend that and do 1 single border bounce to get 6 months

I dont get the bizarre illogical fear of taxes. Most western countries have double tax treaties with Thailand anyway. Only difference is your supposed to submit tax returns if you spend more than 6 months. But you are not in danger of paying double tax on income or capital gains. Just on long term savings
