What would be the point? You deposit a certain amount when you apply for a visa and that's it. You don't get extra credit for being a bank customer beforehand.
I don't think you'll get much of an idea in just a week, but you might come up on a spot you think you'd like. The BTS is just the skytrain. There are dozens of other stops on the MRT. I don't think anybody knows Bangkok too well even after 6 mos. Most expats end up somewhere in central BKk, but that's certainly not all of it, or maybe not even close to the best. It's all personal choice.
The description of Thai women as having to support their parents in lieu of useless Thai men is applicable all over most of SE Asia.
It's definitely true in the Philippines and Vietnam.
It's more of an Asian cultural norm. From what I've seen, the vast majority of Filipina females are single moms, deserted by roving young males. The situation is not helped by the Philippines being hardcore Catholic with verboten birth control.
The Buddhist cultures of Thailand and Vietnam are slightly different in their placement of the older people at the top of the respect totem pole, unlike the west which is just the opposite. This is one reason why young Asian females are far more apt to pair with older western males than anywhere in the west. Being older than 25 is not seen as repulsive, but rather something better fit for female security than same age males.
I used virtual marriage.com ...there are many other companies handling Utah online weddings...anyone from anywhere in the world can do it legally as far as I know ...
You can get married online through the US state of Utah. Numerous companies handle it for you. Takes a minute to set up with the Utah marriage license, and can be scheduled a day or two in advance. I just did it last week. It's 100% legal worldwide. Much easier than using local Thailand.
