Why not just get a new passport? A fresh 10 year passport will have plenty of pages for any visas you might want to have in the future.

Getting a passport while you're overseas is much more expensive and takes other longer generally.

Some passports these days are taking one month to 3 months to get while overseas. Which is 4-6 times longer than while at home.

6 months Muay Thai Visa is just 8000 baht less than 12 months up front price. It's much better value to get 12 months.
