I'm coming back to Thailand from the USA with a lot of luggage. I'll need to fly from BKK to Chiang Mai and I need to check about 50 kilos of luggage but I'm having trouble finding a carrier that will let me prebook that amount. Any suggestions?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on transporting 50 kilos of luggage from Bangkok to Chiang Mai after returning from the USA. Suggestions include shipping options such as using Thailand's post office or Kerry Express, which could be more economical than airline excess baggage fees. Additionally, some users recommend checking with airlines like AirAsia or considering train travel. Overall, mailing the luggage or utilizing a shipping service appears to be favored solutions.
wow! Why didn’t I think of that? Oh yeah, circumferences don’t allow it!

Have you considered not flying via Bangkok and flying into Chiang Mai instead? You're coming from the US, which means you'll have a layover in East Asia and you can fly directly into Chiang Mai from mainland China, South Korea, or Taiwan with a full-service airline. You can also pay excess on discount airlines like HK Express if you fly through Hong Kong.
the flight was booked some time ago. Not a lot of options using miles. I think sending one or two of the bags via the post office at BKK is my best option.

Beelug or something will send it overnight to your door. There's actually about three or four of them in the airport.

Thank you all for all the great comments. This gives me more options to think about. It sounds like the post office might be the way to go.
yes, that would be ideal but I booked the International portion of the trip some time ago.

I book my ticket including the Chiang Mai leg as one ticket. Then the carrier doesn't charge , it is included ..
If I do need to stop over in BKK , I go to the post office , departures level at the airport. Buy boxes , pack , mail , on my way.
Same for shopping in BKK , I mail it. Sometimes to my neighbors house.

And the PO in the airport will put everything into a box for you, even if it’s a large suitcase they will make a box big enough for it. Minimal cost.

Thai post office inside of BKK airport on the far right end of departures floor. Open from 12:15am-23:30pm everyday. Very cheap to ship. In May I shipped 20kg worth of things to Chiang Rai for only 400 baht and got it the next day.
the whole suitcase - will be put into one package manufactured out of two cartons as they don’t have a single carton that size. Is this clear now? 30 kg max weight is including packaging just I’d u think u r smart and weight at home - calculate 1-2 kg for the packaging

Check AirAsia, you can add up to 40kg (60 with some flights), plus 2 x 7kg carry on.
I paid United/EVA Airlines $100 for each of our 3rd checked bags from Phoenix to Bangkok. Air Asia charged me $300+ to check the same 3 bags from BKK to CNX. I was flying with my two children (all of us had a 3rd checked bag) and the total was just under $1K USD. I’m sure that Kerry would be a much better deal.
they will box up your stuff while there. You can just remove some things from a suitcase and put it in another box to meet the weight limit. They actually box the suitcases. For my large suitcase they used 2 boxes which they taped together in the middle. They were very helpful.
