I did it last month. Handed him my passport and walked out 2 minutes later. Note that in my passport was the appointment notification, address registration and departure card.
For us they showed up about a week after we applied and talked to my mother in law. They asked: Where am I from. Where did we get married. How much time we spend in Thailand. Basic bullshit. Then they asked a neighbor some of the same stuff.
Funny thing is my mother in law got a few questions wrong and the immigration guy just laughed.
They never even went in our house. Sat on the porch the whole time.
Disagree with Harry. I have only used the Ubon office at the university and have had 100% positive experiences. I have used them to extend my stay on a 90 day Non O from Laos based on marriage. I have used them to extend a 30 day entry stamp for the simple 30 day and on the 60 day based on marriage. I have gone there to update my address and do 90 day check in. Literally every experience was quick, efficient, professional and with a smile.
Having said all of that we are extremely competent with our paperwork, we smile and greet people and offer thanks for their assistance. We donโt treat them like they owe us something or with any attitude. I see that plenty and it simply backfires.
As my father told me a long time ago โyou draw more flies with sugar than you do with shit.โ
