TLDR : Answer Summary
For your first-time 90-day reporting in Thailand, you will typically need to bring your passport. However, other helpful documents include your Departure Card, the 90-Day Notification Receipt (TM47), and any address registration documentation if applicable. Some users mentioned that it may vary, and sometimes additional documents like photocopies of the passport and registration details could be requested.

all went smooth apart from the traffic. I found the officer on duty very friendly and helpful. Gave me a piece of paper showing how to do it online next time. I've heard it rarely works though? Any tips because it did basically take up 3+ hrs of my day to drive out and back

Take your Passport, Departure Card, 90 Day Notification form (TM47) plus copies of each of them (Face page, last arrival stamp and visa from your passport)
I muted him. I don't have a problem with people having disagreements in here, but blocking someone and then talking trash non stop about them is immature and pathetic.
In answer to your original question all you need is your passport with TM6 and notification of address inside. If you don't have the notification of address then take your rental agreement or signed copy of the blue House book of the property you are staying.
The process is for us as visitors in Thailand to notify Immigration of where we are staying.

Be sure you're registered in their system.
Landlord needs to do TM30 first.

I did it last month. Handed him my passport and walked out 2 minutes later. Note that in my passport was the appointment notification, address registration and departure card.
dont be surprised they ask for more then passport, presently passport seems enough but a few years ago they wanted forms filled out, in phuket we have a drive through max 5 mins and lady just takes passport and processes nice and simple and easy..
