Nobody knows WHO is going to get picked. It is almost like the IO's just decide that they want to scrutinize a person. Even if they have bought a SETV, etc. Consider it much like a lottery. There is no true rhyme or reason that anyone here can say with 100% certainty.
you would think that there would be a process that expedites your new passport for a fee and that they could do it within 60 days. Malaysia or Singapore are options for just a stamp. KL likely the cheapest run (and you don’t even have to spend the night, just give yourself two hours there so you aren’t rushing as you usually have to take the train between terminals to get to customs and then take the train back to the terminal you would fly back out of)
Medical certificate (new one recently came out, old one no longer accepted). Copy of passport page, entry stamp, visa, residence certificate. Depending what class of licence you hold, you may need to print off information for them from your home licence issuer to show them what vehicles you are entitled to drive there (guy ahead of my had a licence for 10 ton vehicle, and they made him prove he could use it for simple car licence. Your current licence (not expired). Always take more than you need because they will inevitably want you to go get a copy of something else. And if you are getting car and motorcycle licence, two copies of everything above. Some will say it’s overkill, but every office is different depending on the person accepting your documents.
