Hi. Not sure if this is the right place to ask but, does anyone have experience getting a motorcycle license on a multiple entry tourist visa? If so, can you tell me the name (in english and Thai) of the documents I need? I know I need to ask my landlord for some paper but not sure what it’s called or how official it needs to be. Then I need to get some paper from immigration before taking the motorcycle test. Not sure if it’s possible with the MET visa. Anyone who has experience please send me details. Thank you! <3

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of obtaining a motorcycle license in Thailand on a multiple entry tourist visa involves several key documents. You will need a medical certificate (which is essential and must be up-to-date), a residence certificate (which you can obtain from the immigration office or consulate), your current valid foreign driving license, and your passport with entry stamp and visa. It's recommended to also have copies of all these documents ready. If your landlord does not provide an official rental agreement, you might need to create a simple document outlining your rental arrangement. Always check with local authorities for specific requirements as they can vary.

Unfortunately seeing as this isn't thai visa related at all I'd say the O/P has enough information to at least get down the road towards getting a license.

Have a thai friend call the Department of Land Transport and see what is required where you live.

Good Luck (y)

Medical certificate (new one recently came out, old one no longer accepted). Copy of passport page, entry stamp, visa, residence certificate. Depending what class of licence you hold, you may need to print off information for them from your home licence issuer to show them what vehicles you are entitled to drive there (guy ahead of my had a licence for 10 ton vehicle, and they made him prove he could use it for simple car licence. Your current licence (not expired). Always take more than you need because they will inevitably want you to go get a copy of something else. And if you are getting car and motorcycle licence, two copies of everything above. Some will say it’s overkill, but every office is different depending on the person accepting your documents.

Samuel Fila thanks. I don’t know what a renters agreement needs to look like? My landlord never made anything like that. I stay monthly. Any samples or ideas?

Samuel Fila if they're in Bangkok they will NOT get a residence certificate from the immigration office here. They ONLY issue them to people who are on extensions and have done a 90 day report.

Other offices aren't like that.

Thanks so much for this information. Can you give me more details.

1. What does medical certificate mean? Does it have a specific Thai name? Can I get it at a clinic or only a hospital? Do I download it somewhere?

2. How to get a residence certificate? I know I need to show renters agreement from my landlord but She doesn’t speak english very well and we don’t have anything official on paper. So what kind of document do we need to make to show immigration? any Thai names of theses documents would be a big help or where I can download them.

Yes that seems to be the norm

You can get a proof of residence paper from the immigration office or from your consulate. You need that, a medical certificate, your current valid license from your country and your passport. Take those things to the Department of land transport and you can get a two-year temporary Thai driver's license

@Aya ******
if you don't have a motorcycle license from your country you're going to have to take the practical driving test AND the computerized multiple choice test too.

Also in Bangkok you can't get a proof of residence certificate from the immigration office on an tourist visa. You will have to get one from your consulate instead

I don’t have a valid motorcycle license from another country. Only a car license. Is it one license for everything? I thought I need to take a test and stuff...

It seem to be different with everyone. I just took my English driving licence and exchange it for Thai. No other documents needed.???

@Sarah ***************
the fact someone has an IDP (International Driving permit) has no bearing on what they are required to provide when they get a thai license.

If you hold a valid license from your country and the license is written in english you can use it to get a thai license and NOT take the multiple choice computer test or the practical driving test.
Sarah ****************
Thats why. If you have an international license you can drive. If you dont you can't
Alex *********
Yes, international licence
Sarah ****************
Did you bring an international license? I wasnt able to do this
Alex *********
Weird I know
Alex *********
No, nothing
Tod *********
I believe when you did that you also supplied proof of residence and a medical certificate like everybody does in the country to swap out a license from their country for a thai one

Ypu can pay an agency which ia super expensive or you can get a certificate of residency fron immigration (if you are renting you need rental agreement) once you have this you can do teat yourself. You need a medical certificate as well
