TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses concerns around recent entry denials in Thailand, particularly focusing on whether these changes affect only repeat tourists or all visitors. Comments highlight that genuine tourists shouldn't face issues provided they meet certain requirements like proof of funds and onward travel, especially if they do not have a history of overstaying or using tourist visas to reside in Thailand.

IF they are in fact real tourists as opposed to people who use visa exempt entries and tourist visas to LIVE here :O they will not have any problems stamping into the country.

It is far more previous entry history that gets people flagged, grilled and denied entry than anything else..

I'd say as long as they have the requirements that Robert outlined when they stamp in they will be fine..

Pee Nick holding a valid VISA for thailand is not a guarantee that you get in to the country :O all it does is guarantee IF you get in you get in for the days allowed on that particular visa.

I would say the days of living here on back-2-back visa exempt, tourist visa entries and/or extensions are comin' to a close sooner rather than later.

Thai Immigration can ask for proof of funds of 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in cash, proof of onward travel and proof of accommodation. Mostly only asked to people with a history of staying inside Thailand. What are the chances to get denied is a good question, there are over 30 million tourists visiting Thailand without problems, there are people getting denied entry and we do not have the figures of this. But I do not believe that that figure will be in the thousands or higher. Be prepared, have a visa that fits the purpose of your stay and good luck.

Doron Azulay evidently yes nothing new on a 30 day exempt. On the 60 day its not new just the enforcement of the showing sufficient funds is new. Seems predominantly in some consulates frequented by border bouncers. Friend in UK and another in US both needed the proof of funds for the METV. UK was last August, US the prior Feb.

I have a couple people who work offshore on that 28 on 28 off rotation. Two of them were raked over the coals by immigration officers when they stamped in, cautioned to get real visas etc, and told they can't get in any more on 30 day visa exempt entries :O The other one who works with them has never been asked and comes and goes every other month for years and years.

I have no idea how they decide who they are going to target.,.. It doesn't make any sense to me.

I bow to your knowledge (no sarcasm intended whatsoever, as when I see your posts, I know they are factual). Just that you have some of the off shore workers who have had grief when they have held visas. And yes, there are too many "tourists" living here abusing the system, hence the higher frequency of postings about denial of entry.

that is not necessarily true. :O People who LIVE here on back-2-back tourist vsia and visa exempt entry stamps are the people who are targeted. "Real tourists" <- the kind that come, tour and leave are not targeted..

Nobody knows WHO is going to get picked. It is almost like the IO's just decide that they want to scrutinize a person. Even if they have bought a SETV, etc. Consider it much like a lottery. There is no true rhyme or reason that anyone here can say with 100% certainty.
