they dont check, just make sure the most recent statement (not older than 3 days) shows over 500k. I provided 6 months but she didn't look further.

I'm a freelancer so they asked for client invoices and the transactions on my business account showing client payments coming in.

yes same experience. Just 500k isnt enough. They asked for payslips or invoices and transactions of incoming payments.

how do you become one? I spent 186 days in Thailand this year (already left). Everyone talks about being a tax resident after 180 days but no one actually gives clear instructions what exactly i am suppose to do once i passed 180 days. Who do i inform now? Where do i get a tax form? Where do i file it? To which bank account will i send the tax i suppose to pay? How do i know how much tax i pay?

No one stopped me at the airport, despite I'm sure they could see in the system that i passed 180 days.

On a side note, the consulate is closed today due to a super typhoon. My flight today got cancelled too

Sorry to hear. A friend of mine also went today to the consulate in Taipei and was asked to provide more docs. It seems Taipei has gotten stricter which honestly doesn't surprise me.

If you're making 10k a month, I'm sure you're welcome either way.

One person in this group was successful with the consulate in kota Bharu and another one in Penang i think. You can search for the post. I have not read of anyone who got it successfully in KL.
