It's clear that Taipei's dtv visa review is getting stricter. They're starting to ask for 6 months of transaction details and also take a closer look at each transaction details. If they have any doubts about the transaction details, ask if you can open the bank app and show them your transaction details. taipei still definitely the fastest place to issue, but I think there will be more cases of rejection in the future. i don know why but saw 2people were rejected at the application counter in the morning.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The visa review process in Taipei is becoming stricter, with new requirements for applicants to provide six months of transaction details. This includes a closer examination of individual transactions, and in cases of doubt, applicants may need to show their transaction history via a bank app. Recent experiences indicate an increase in rejections, possibly due to heightened scrutiny on financial documentation. Discussions highlight the evolving policies around long-stay visas, while concerns about the potential for future difficulties and economic motivations behind the visa's regulations are also voiced.

Senseless! What's the purpose on creating this visa if their goal is to reject applicants and not approve as many as they can because we all know this visa is going to end as soon as it started. It's to generate more revenue for the government! Their hassling me now. Ask for my tax returns!

The goal is to stimulate economy, not get revenue for the government. This visa is quite cheap so it does not generate much revenue for the government.

For a visa there is an application process, to check if the applicants comply with the requirements.

Because this specific visa is quite heavy misused because not all requirements are clear, now they start checking more strictly. I think nothing is wrong with that.

Transaction meaning 6 months 500,000 in bank statements?

I was at Taipei last week. I had a medical tourism app but ended up combining with a remote worker application. They seemed to focus on getting a good picture of where your money's coming from. I only provided 3 months of bank statements, but I provided income info from further back. I don't know if I would have been approved if I just said I was living off savings--probably would have required longer period of bank statements.

For years it was very hard for people under 50 to obtain a longstay visa in Thailand. Now it's very easy. Don't think it will remain that easy in the future, generally. Thai authorities are quick to make changes.

180 days is not really a longstay. Allthough used by a lot of people in this group to live in Thailand it is meant for remote workers who change their location a lot and stay everywhere a few months and come back later.

When it really was meant as longstay they would not make a stay only 180 days.but longer and they also would not ask you to leave the country after one extension.

So I also think they might change rules to prevent the use of the current loopholes.

yeah like me, who stays in Thailand in the winter and Europe in summer. 6 months is quite a long time to stay, I think, although not a "live in Thailand" longstay.

It would seem that way. The Ambassador or Head of Consular might be getting twitchy about some of the approved applications and are tightening up. :-) :-)
