Savannakhet do not ask for proof of funds and also offer a multiple entry visa for 5000 baht.

The embassies outside of thailand or not linked to the immigration databas, so getting a new passport and applying for a visa would be ok. But the problen could be at Thai immigration side as your history will show up.

You cant get a tourist visa in thailand, you can get a visa exempt entry which gives you 30 days then you can go to immigration and extend it for a further 30 days.

You could also go to a neighbouring country like laos and apply for a tourist visa there.

Its always been a requirement

I would advise getting a ticket showing a flight out of thailand to show the airline at the airport.

I was nearly refused a few years ago, even though i had a visa.

Also you may get asked at the airport in bangkok to show proof of onward travel aswell.

Always best to carry the three proofs.
