TLDR : Answer Summary
A discussion on various reliable apps for transferring money to Thailand, excluding Wise, yields several recommendations from community members. Notable mentions include Revolut, MoneyGram, Western Union, Xoom, Remitly, and XE. Users appreciate these options for their affordability, ease of use, and quick transfers, often sharing personal experiences and insights on fees and exchange rates. I like Send. Yes that's their name. Based on the Gold Coast in australia. You can email and even talk to a real person without waiting if you have a problem. I did a transfer today 1 aud was 23.90. No fees. Is that good?
Wise has a comparison tool. I can't vouch for these other apps but probably worth looking at

Remitly is fast and gives the best exchange rate. Specially if you do cash pick-up from bank.

I received an overnight email from Wise that their fees will be rising soon.. Not sure if that’s what prompted this thread, but i too will be looking for other options, though im not sure it’s possible to avoid price/fee increases in 2024 .

Wise is excellent can’t see you beating it on price what’s your problem with it
so do you maintain funds in your wise account and send as needed? I have not tried that. I usually just use wise to send funds from my US account to my Bangkok bank account.
i just learned about the interest rate they offer. I was looking to move my saving from my american back to a cd or something to get more interest and decided wize was giving me the same interest with no limitations.
I am since used it once to pay for a doctor bill. I use charles schwab account to withdraw money from atm because they reimburse atm fees until they figure out your living overseas and then they stop it based on everything I have heard. But for now I'll continue to use them and when they stop, I will move all that money over to Wise and use my Wise card to withdraw cash.
Same here, had a rough time with Wise. Western Union is 0.99 cents per transfer bank to bank and about half a baht below market for rates. Never had an issue with them so I am happy.
I use kapook eu, they are very good, cheap and fast, have office in London, any issues easy to get hold off, been using them for 4 years, would not change. Check out their app. Any issues, you can contact me.

Revolut
Not sure if you’re in the US but Charles Schwab account lets you use atms for free and you can transfer funds to it for cash
