TLDR : Answer Summary
To send US$ cash to a UK bank account from Thailand, several options are recommended. Banks in Thailand offer foreign currency transfer services, while services like Western Union are available but may be expensive. Dee Money seems to be a popular choice due to its flat rate fee of 150 baht, although some users have reported delays and mixed reviews on social media. Other users have successfully transferred funds through KTB bank with reasonable fees. Alternatives like Transferwise and Revolut are also suggested for lower rates. Ultimately, comparing these services based on fees, exchange rates, and transfer time is advisable.

Revolut, Transferwise. Sent me a pm for an invitation link ;)
all sorted now. I use Revolut for withdrawals outside of the UK 🙂

Went with Deemoney, exchange rates were fairly close to XE, however they’re having some technical issue so it’ll take 5-7 days instead of the usual 2. Not fussed on that though 🙂 cheers for all the help lads!

Like waiting for a cheque to clear.. 30 years ago.. until governments realised why banks were doing it and it changed to 3 days overnight.

likely so 😅 apparently it’s been going on for close to a month after overhearing another customer. Just be sure to double check they’ve all the details correct as they had my sort code and UK address wrong.

Thats cheap.. 5-7 days technical issues 😂
More like they bank the money for a week to squeeze a few more bucks out of their customers..
I’ll add that on to do a tri-comparison. I’m a real penny pincher, if I can save 0.2% I’ll do it. A gift from a bookmaker family, always a calculator in hand 😅

I might know someone , but it will cost you 800 baht.. 😂😂

Would be ideal, but I don’t trust anyone, not even myself 🙈

Your cheapest option is to find a a UK expat here that you trust, ask him to transfer the equivalent in pounds or euro into your account and give them the cash here.

Ah I see. I’ll go to both a bank and Deemoney and compare the two. Santander will hit me the same regardless of the incoming source.

For me yes. Was talking about your transaction.. its 4% for you. The more you send the lower the %.

Meaning your $30 fee on $500 total transferred, sorry 6% not 7%
Steven ***************
And its 4% mate not 7% 😉
$650 US is 20 000 baht.
Steven ***************
Youll cop a conversion rate at the other end too if its US $ to UK. Unlrss you have a foreign currency account there.

Just over 7% swallowed in fees. If I was sending more or if was urgent it’d be fine. If Deemoney does what it says on the tin a 650 baht saving is worthwhile.

No.. $30 AU to have money where i want it overseas asap isnt expensive in my view.
You can spend that easy in time and taxis trying to save 300 baht...

Just need my passport, account details and swiftcide.

Not think 800 bahts quite steep?

I sent $500 to my Australian bank account from KTB . Walked in . No account there.
Cost 800 baht (+exchange rate) money was in my account 2 hours later

Deemoney looks good at 150baht flat rate, but see lots of angry customers on their fb page. Suppose that’s always the case though, it rare people go online to praise anyone.
They often run discounts or FREE TRANSFER. Keep checking their FB page.

sounds ideal!

Chris Jay Well in my Indian accouny case , few hours. However, since last two transactions it is taking 48 hours. But that is fine , they have some issue with internal server and they said they are working on it. Your money will land in YOUR ACCOUNT only.

Cheers man! Was looking for some firsthand experiences before using them. How long did it take?

Chris Jay Deemoney is great. I have been using it since 2017 , never had any problem. I did see some bad comments on their page , some of them by fellow Indians , I am gormless as in what made them say so. Soi 8 shop is wonderful. Try them.

And you dont need an account at a bank to use them for a money transfer. You can walk in. Ive done it myself.

Sending $650, not massively urgent. It’s just cash left over from a trip but would prefer it in my bank rather than THB
Steven ***************
Depend how much you send really and how urgent it is.
Dee money im not sure of but heard its good.

Any experience with Dee Money?

Aren’t they quite expensive? I remember using them years ago and it was something ridiculous like $30. I don’t have a Thai bank account, yet.

Many banks here have foreign currency transfer services. Youd have to ask each one.
Western Union can also send it direct to an overseas bank account.
