⚠️ Heads up for Non-O Extensions at Chaeng Watthana / Bangkok Bank
Just a quick PSA for anyone heading to Chaeng Watthana for their first 1-year Non-O extension based on the bank deposit method.
I thought I had everything 100% ready:
• ✅ Online appointment booked a month ago.
• ✅ Funds seasoned since Dec 25th (hitting that 2-month mark perfectly).
• ✅ All checklist forms printed and signed.
The "simple" plan was to walk into the Bangkok Bank branch at the complex today, update/reprint the bank book, and head upstairs.
The "Surprise" Red Tape
Turns out, they couldn't reprint or verify the funds on the same day. Because of how the funds were held/coded, they have to submit a form to HQ to "unfreeze" or verify the records, which takes 3–5 business days.
The Result
I had to burn my appointment today and now have to gamble on a walk-in next week once the bank clears the paperwork.
Moral of the story: If you are counting on a bank book update at the branch on the day of your extension, go a week early to ensure your specific account doesn't require "HQ verification." Don't let a "3-5 day processing time" ruin your immigration schedule!
LTR question. Most all the banks will provide a verification letter. But almost all can't or won't provide a "stamp" because they have moved online for the most part. So...will verification letter work or wasting my time?
