One additional note that may be of use is 2 years ago when I first came to Thailand I transferred money from my home Bank to Bangkok Bank in Thailand using wire transfer Swift and it was then that my bank in Canada did not include my middle name when transferring it to my Bangkok Bank and it was rejected then also it went through successfully when my bank finally did include my middle name as listed in my Bangkok bank account

I had that problem with Wise and EX, I have a suffix of the second (II) after last name being named after my father, used my passport with them which has it but bank account and drivers license doesn’t have it, when asked for further ID suffix wasn’t listed (I never use it) both companies proceeded to lock me out.

I recently had a bit of a bad experience with XE. I was having difficulty trying to make my first transfer when I was informed by them that if I'm living in Thailand I am not eligible to transfer money to Thailand. So I closed my account with them and will not be dealing with the many more. I did mention to them that I know people living in Thailand did use it successfully

They are so regulated that there’s no room for error for a new user and refuse to understand or give reasons for any of their lock out actions. Once locked out you’re done with them for life.

the reason they gave me for not doing the transfer was that I was living in Thailand. That was their only reason everything else was done accurately

During my previously mentioned issue I did phone Bangkok Bank and they inform me that everything with my account was okay and that I could receive transfers. They did not tell me about including the middle name that was figured out on my own

I had the same problem using the remitly app my bank is at Bangkok Bank also. In some apps we only put our first and last name but our account at Bangkok Bank made with their passport would include the middle name. I had no problem for 2 years and then recently increase in security due to money laundering scams and fraudulent activity all the banks are clamping down. If you use your middle name at Bangkok Bank for your account you need to ensure that you utilize that middle name as the recipient when you use your transfer app to that bank. Once I fixed that there has been no problem. Cheers

There are new regulations regarding transfers. Its best to transfer under 50,000 baht per transaction.

Are you sending it with Wise? There have been problems with Wise lately

@Judy ******
Bangkok Bank was not one of the Thai banks that Wise couldn't send funds to after 6 May 2025

No I’m sending with Western Union, no problems with past transfers.

Don't know as I haven't had that problem. If you are in Thailand go ask the bank.

Went to Bangkok Bank they had no clue why, tried same transfer later and transfer went through. I don’t care for glitches in the system makes me nervous.
