Arrived at Chiang Mai airport this afternoon, 3rd entry on my DTV. Sawadee kaa, immigration lady pointed to the finger scanning machine, no questions asked, and gave me a 180 day stamp. No need to show a tdac or DTV visa, it was all in their computer.

Meanwhile I saw several people in the queue in front of me getting a grilling about how many days stay, hotel booking, and onward flight. One guy was getting interrogated for a long time about his “friend’s” address where he was staying in CM, why he was coming for short frequent trips, whether he was working in Laos, and whether he had a Thai wife.

From first hand experience only please, not speculation- When entering on a workation DTV, Is the entry smoother and less hassle-free, less chance of difficulty for first entry on DTV to enter through BKK, and then travel on to CNX? I'm getting mixed signals from various posts here. I feel I'm in 100% compliance, and the extra leg through BKK adds travel costs and is basically a nuisance. If the odds of not being f'd with are the same, I'd rather just enter at CNX.

Hello community!

I read that there are more than few cases of being questioned upon entry and having to show some documents (workation) that should match the one you used to apply.

Is this true?

Recently came back on my DTV at BKK airport. No issues, I gave my DTV paper to the immigration officer, no questions nothing asked. Stamped back in for 6 months!

Coming into Thailand soon with an approved DTV. I hear CMX is a bit more complicated than BKK.

Has anyone come in recently into Thailand and was questioned? If so, which airport did you come into?

(I also used to be on an ED visa and spent a lot of time in Thailand)

Hello everybody, I will need to extend my stay with the DTV for another 6 months at the end of this month. I understand I can either go to the immigration office and pay the fee, or I can also exit the country and come back again

Any suggestions on which of these two options is recommended?

As titled. The officer first asked what did i do here and I mentioned being a digital nomad under DTV Visa. She asked for proof of work which I showed her my latest invoices with my clients. She was only happy when the invoices show the billing in the previous months so I reckon a contract would have worked better.

I then asked her if it was a new regulation to provide the documents before entry, she said no and mentioned it’d be better for me to have them since DTV is a long term visa.

Update: 1st Entry on DTV

Today I entered with DTV for the first time through CNX airport. They said that because it's the first time using it I have to fill out a form and do a little interview.

The form was basically just personal information, Thailand address, port of embarkation and entry, why are you here, how much money do you have with you here in Thailand? They asked to see at least 20,000 baht in my account, which I showed them on my Thai bank account. There were 2 officers there who were very nice and simply asked what I do for work. I told them I teach online, mostly Chinese students and some Korean, and gave her my approximate monthly income. They didn't grill me further. Took me to the counter and got me stamped in.

Another Australian guy was getting grilled a little harder and longer. I think partly because he appeared nervous, and pretty much immediately said he couldn't show his bank account bc he didn't have data / wifi, to which the officer replied the airport has wifi. Also he was on soft power and seemed to have a lot of stamps. They kept talking in Thai about all the different dates in his passport. Not sure what happened with him since they kept him after I already left.

So, if you come through CNX the first time be prepared to do this. Just be nice and honest and try not to appear nervous even though it can be nerve racking being pulled aside.

I entered Thailand via Chiangmai Airport today from Hanoi, Vietnam (13 June).

They sent off DTV holders to separated area next to the immigration lines to fill the interview form which basically asking the same information as TDAC form (personal info, arrival-departure flight/date,etc.)

I got asked to show the proof of money in my bank account. I just pulled up my bank app.

And asked about the address and what is the purpose of visiting/how long.

But overall it was not intimidating or anything.

It wasn't a long process just quick and straightforward.

Ps. This is first time entering with DTV visa

Just sharing some experience here if anyone was looking for. :)

I'm planning to get a re-entry permit at Chiang Mai airport. Are the application forms available at that desk? I'm not able to print myself.
