Regarding Guillermos successful and quick visa approval, I also went with self business owner, and I've been tracking in Excel those reporting approvals/denials and what they went with. From my crude data keeping, having your own business takes your chances of a fast approval WAY up above the other options. That's what I went with in Chicago and got a 3 day approval.
Finally approved. Applied Chicago office aug. 24. They requested more documents on 28. I submitted them Aug. 29. And then I waited until yesterday to call them, and apparently they didn’t even see my application in their system because I had applied for a non immigrant b visa in April - June.
So, if it’s taking a while, give them a call. I actually did call sometime around Sept. 20, but the phone prompt led me to believe there was no humans to talk to. Anyone apply to the Chicago Embassy and only use a state background check? Sadly I have to reapply again since I was rejected by NY due to applying to the wrong consulate
