Anyone apply to the Chicago Embassy and only use a state background check? Sadly I have to reapply again since I was rejected by NY due to applying to the wrong consulate

TLDR : Answer Summary
Several commenters confirm that a state background check is acceptable for a visa application at the Chicago Embassy, stating that it covers major crimes relevant to Thailand's requirements. However, one individual expresses concern about needing such a check for a short stay and wonders if it is necessary since they believe their documentation is complete.

Why do you need a state check. I’m going for 30 days and I’m applying for my Thai psss on Friday. I thought all my paperwork is ready but I didn’t see anything that asks for that kind of info. Now I’m worried.

tourist visas require one (weird because my first tourist visa was to Thailand it wasn't required). If you are just entering with a visa on arrival or exempt then you only require the Thai pass

Tourist visas don't require a background check. Some embassies issuing the STV do, but that's a special visa and shouldn't be around much longer.

Non-OA is a 1 year retirement visa. Non-B is a business visa.

You should be able to use a State background check; it would show all the major crimes that Thailand would be interested in (rape, murder, etc)
