Application for extension based non O visa married to Thai experience.
Two days ago I applied for my non o extension based on marriage to Thai. It was pretty much a straight forward experience. Bank statement, updated bank book, then to immigration. Filled out the application, submitted the map and pictures then after an hour of paper shoveling was told I needed to resubmit photos because they were not taken on the same day. Also a couple of lines where I stated the address was not in the correct space. ( Our immigration office seems to be quite strict about the details, but they are very nice). Went back home and retook the pictures. Back to immigration they said within 10 days we would get a letter stating the date and time of our home visit. 2 days later my wife gets a call they want to come over now. Yeah ok no problem. He shows up I give him a bottle of water or if he wants a bia or lao ( laughing) says after we get your stamp he'll come over to party lol.
He got the village head man's ( our neighbor )ID copied. Asked a couple of questions and we're done. Super easy process that you just have to go with. They do a good job vetting visa applicants and want to protect the community and country. I go back April 10 for the extension of stay.
Allan Batten made a post but it had a misspelling and was adding a spurious link in the post :O
I messaged them about it then deleted the post (and mistakenly gave them a warning :/ ) I didn't mean to warn them I meant to have them repost it without the mistake
Just got my 11 month extension (following on from my 5 week Under consideration) at Chaiyaphum Immigration, Absolutely over the moon. Many thanks to my Thai wife, Somlak for helping me through the process. Chaiyaphum Immigration is the best.
Just wanted to say a quick thankyou to Tod, Robert, and the other admins on here. Last week I collected my 12 month extension based on marriage in Chaiyaphum. It was a lengthy and slightly complicated process since I live 90km away from the immigration office, don't drive a car, and work full time (legally).
Your help and advice certainly made it easier for me and saved me a lot of hassle, and I'm sure the same could probably be said by many others in the group. Thanks a lot :D
On Wednesday I will be heading to immigration (Chaiyaphum) to apply for a 12 month extension based on marriage. I have 2 questions:
1) Is this the application form we need to fill out(?), and if not, please can someone send it to me?
2) I've been told officials will probably come to the house to inspect and verify we live there (though there was no mention of this when my wife phoned them up). I know this will vary from province to province, but do the officials usually give you notice of when they are going to visit. The reason I ask is because my wife and I both work, meaning neither of us will be home during the day from Mon-Fri, plus my wife works nearly 40km away from our home. I'm thinking of re-registering my residence to my wife's family home (also in Chaiyaphum but a different district) where we sometimes stay. At least there, her parents will be at home to show any documents etc in case we are at work....Do you guys have any recommendations or can give some idea at how it works? :) Thanks :)
Hi, This is a fairly long post as I've got myself in a rather complex situation, even for Thai standards. I came here on my UK passport in October 2018 on a 30 visa waiver, and then got myself a 90 day non-ed with an opportunity to extend it up in chiang rai. My application to extend my non-ed was rejected on wednesday.......apparently because my old work visa, when i last worked here 2 years ago, was not cancelled properly when i left my old school in Chaiyaphum. They said i need to get a signed letter from the director of my old school and also some kind of stamp in my passport from chaiyaphum immigration saying my visa was cancelled (i'm a bit confused about what stamp they're exactly looking for but it might be something about not having the blue "departed stamp" on top of an extension of stay, which i've just found out is actually on a different page in my passsport. i will go to chaiyaphum immigration to see if they can correct it).........Anyway.......I need to get this all together before by friday 25th january, when my current visa expires......If I can't do this in time, which is probable as the director isnt at school until monday 21st, then could i quickly border hop at mae sai and get another 30 day visa-waiver, which would give me a little more time to get this sorted.......? or do i need to somehow cancel my ed-visa first?
