Application for extension based non O visa married to Thai experience.
Two days ago I applied for my non o extension based on marriage to Thai. It was pretty much a straight forward experience. Bank statement, updated bank book, then to immigration. Filled out the application, submitted the map and pictures then after an hour of paper shoveling was told I needed to resubmit photos because they were not taken on the same day. Also a couple of lines where I stated the address was not in the correct space. ( Our immigration office seems to be quite strict about the details, but they are very nice). Went back home and retook the pictures. Back to immigration they said within 10 days we would get a letter stating the date and time of our home visit. 2 days later my wife gets a call they want to come over now. Yeah ok no problem. He shows up I give him a bottle of water or if he wants a bia or lao ( laughing) says after we get your stamp he'll come over to party lol.
He got the village head man's ( our neighbor )ID copied. Asked a couple of questions and we're done. Super easy process that you just have to go with. They do a good job vetting visa applicants and want to protect the community and country. I go back April 10 for the extension of stay.

I will be doing this process very soon as I am just at the beginning of the marriage process and it's good to hear a positive immigration experience for the same visa type I am applying for. Glad it went well for you! Nice update.
CopperDeer3915 remember to go to the immigration office that serves where you live and get their hand out listing what's required for the visa/extension well before you're going to apply for it.
We applied and the officer commented that id done a great job of the application(Hua hin immigration)
He said many are not prepared or incomplete.
We had a call from Dan Singkorn office the next afternoon for our house visit.Took four or five photos and left without any questions at all!We did visit four times beforehand going over the application in detail with the "Checkers "downstairs.
Its actually straightforward enough although we had to use another witness on the application day as our intended witness was working elsewhere that day.If anyone needs further details for this office im happy to assist.
Interestingly I recently read that they requested that the photos should not be all from the same time, but show different clothes being worn. Also that the previously requested bedroom photo is now no longer required.
that seems to be a long Under Consideration ( U/C ) time period if getting the Thai Wife Marriage Extension on 10 April 2026?? (from 18–19 February 2026)
most offices that do the 30 day under consideration stamp ADD it to your current extension expiration date because that 30 days is actually the first month of your new yearly extension
... the UC month starts when your current extension expires. I did mine on Tuesday in Chiang Mai and asked that specific question, now I have about 5½ weeks UC.
