hello all, thanks for adding me. We are a family of 4 from Canada who have been travellling for the past 5 months. We have had a very easy time of it so far with visas but find ourselves in a conundrum with Thailand as we didn't realize the strictures on the 60 day visa (ie. we can't apply for it outside our home country, as we had planned to do). We are currently in Sri Lanka and have a flight to BKK in less than 2 weeks.

So - my questions are:

1. can we come into thailand on a 30 day visa and extend it relatively easily in-country (we have seen both yes and no as an answer elsewhere). We would be applying for the extension in Krabi, which is our first stop.

1. if yes, we CAN renew relatively easily while in-country, will we need to show an outbound flight on arrival that is leaving the country by the 30 day mark? Or, can we enter with a flight that leaves by the 60 day mark and explain that we plan to renew/extend while in the country?

1. do we need to arrive at BKK with with printed photos for the 30 day visa on-arrival or not? we have read that yes, we need them, and no, we don't.

What say you - wise travellers?

Many thanks,

v.

Hey all - newbie here. Looking for advice as 2 Canadians wanting to stay in Thailand for 6 months ( November 15 to May 15(ish)). There is so much contradicting information out there on the internet and we are confused!

We are thinking we will get the 60 day tourist visa here in Canada, get a 30 day extension there then mid February fly over to Cambodia for about a week and fly back.

Upon returning - what are our options to stay the next three months?

Also - we do not have our return flight booked yet, can someone explain the requirements for having flights booked out of the country.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks so much for the advice - i read the Metv was no longer valid as of September 2022. And I dont see the metv option on thaievisa.go.th > any advice??

Hello! I’ll be leaving vancouver Canada April 1st at 2am to BKK. I have my covid-19 test booked for 29th of March at 11am. I land in Taiwan at 5:30am on April 2nd and depart at 8:30am. I am just wondering does my test still have to be within 72 hours when I board my connecting flight in Taiwan?

Anyone have issues?

I want to share my story here. I'm Canadian.

In my passport I have several exeption visa( the one you got for free when you arrive ) from 2016 and 2017 and 2 tourist visa from visa run done in 2108. In 2019 I've got 2 exemptions , one when I arrived from Canada and another one from a little visa run in Cambodia. Both went well I had nothing to show. Nothing.

But I just came back from the Philippines and They asked me for a returning ticket and money. I showed them but still this was not enough. The guy insisted that I need to apply for a tourist visa from my country. After some negociation, they let let me in with no warning in my passport. I had the normal stamp for visa exemption, 30 days that I plan to extend.

That it, so I will just apply for tourist next time loll. I will not take this chance anymore.
