Hello. Hopefully someone can help me… I’m on holidays in Thailand and have had to get an emergency passport. The Australian embassy have told me I will have to get an ‘entry stamp’ on my new passport before I depart but no one is able to tell me if I can do this directly at the airport or whether I have to go to Thai immigration head office?! Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Thailand with an emergency Australian passport is seeking clarification on whether they can obtain an entry stamp directly at the airport or if they must visit the Thai immigration head office. Comments indicate that if the user has an existing tourism extension, they must go to the specific immigration office that issued it to transfer the stamp. If they only have an entry stamp and no extension applied, they can exit with both their old and new passports.

You not have your old passport? Maybe lost?

i have my old passport.

If you have already applied for a tourism extension, you need to go to the exact immigration office that issued your extension to get that stamp transferred.

If you only have an entry stamp and haven't applied for an extension, you can leave with both old and new passports. Immigration offices wouldn't transfer the entry stamp.

Really? And they will stamp it there?

@Jan***
, yes. They will put your departure stamp on your new passport and let you leave if you have all.

great. Thanks. Why would the embassy tell me I needed to transfer the stamp?

@Jan***
, That's the question only your embassy can answer. Ask them.

If you are going to just leave, no need to go to the immigration office. Show both passports and embassy letter at the passport control on your departure.
