Hi all,

I am a UK citizen and have lost my passport; I should be travelling to Cambodia on the 12th and back to BKK on 16th so have applied to my embassy for an Emergency Travel Document. On their website it says I need to go to Thai Immigration for an ‘exit visa’ - I have searched online/on immigration website but can’t find anything about this - does anyone have experience of this? Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a UK citizen, has lost their passport and is seeking an emergency travel document to travel to Cambodia and return to Bangkok. They inquire about the 'exit visa' they need to obtain from Thai immigration but find little information available. Various community members provide advice on the process, highlighting the need for a police report, documentation of their travel arrangements, and clarification about the nature of an emergency travel document, which may not allow for normal travel use. Additional information on immigration wait times and visa stamps can also be found in the discussion.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted, keep in mind the immigration and government offices will be closed for Songkran holidays.

If you have a picture of your VISA that you got at a thai consulate in another country it helps WAY more than if you have a picture of your old passport..

Found this on immigration website- Firstly, the alien has to report of lost passport at the nearest Police Station. Then, he/she must contact his/her Embassy in Bangkok in order get to a new passport/or other Travel Document in lieu of Passport. After receiving the new Passport/Travel Document, the alien must bring it together with the Police Report of the latest lost passport to see The Immigration official in order to obtain a copy of entry stamp and stay permit in his/her new passport/travel document. Does anyone know how long it takes?

, as long as you can prove you had that visa they'll transfer the entry stamp from it to the new passport without a problem

, They don't ever transfer VISAS to a new passport :/ They only transfer entry stamps.

Unless you got the 90 day Non-O visa at an immigration office inside the country they most likely are going to have you prove you actually got one by showing your receipt OR by going to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office and having them contact the consulate where you got it originally.

in my lost passport I was on Non-Imm O visa (3 months) that expires 4th May... but getting Emergency Travel Document hopefully tomorrow morning from British Embassy. Also applying for new passport. If I manage to get this before my old visa expires (unlikely I know) would it be possible to transfer the O visa to new passport?

That depends on the immigration office you use. I've seen it take 15 minutes and I've seen it take 4 hours.

Usually one files a police report when losing a passport. You may need a copy to apply for the travel documents

I knew of one bloke getting one of these in HK, I am pretty sure it allowed just one trip to the UK and was about £120.. I might be wrong, it was a passport with a white cover and one or two pages..

You simply have to set out your travel arrangements and list the country's you intend to visit. You can't just use it like a normal passport.

They are not fond of issuing emergency travel docs, especially if u r not going home soon. They may tell u to apply for a new passport which will take about 2 weeks.

I always thought an emergency travel document only allowed you to travel back to your home country
